Re: 2007 Coalfield Progress Hoops publication

I think I read somewhere before that the earlier games will be played at other sites and only the finals would be played at VA High.

I hate that the tournament finals are not rotating between the districts anymore.

When is the last time TW played in the Region tournament?

I believe around 97 or 98. They've came within a game of making it on a couple occasions though. Granted J Frank White is weak, TW ran them off the court last night 72-26. Tomorrow night against Lee High will be a big measuring stick as to how the rest of the season will go.

the first round games will be held at the top 4 seeds...then the semifinals will be at 3 separate gyms and the finals for both divisions at virginia high.

Lee High could be a good test.

They had a really good team last year, but I haven't seen them play this year.

Best of luck in the season.

    Makes sense.

Sounds like it's going to be a lot of basketball games going on at the same time!

Anybody know the 3 gyms the semifinals will be held at? I think it might be Castlewood, Lebanon, and some other.

Re: 2007 Coalfield Progress Hoops publication

I think it will be in Burton's favor to have the divisions this year. I was pleased to see the hoops addition to the paper with a girls team on the front. Equal opportunity, does not happen very often in girls sports. I agree with the Lady Raiders, these girls are great athletes.

The Division split is going to help some teams I think, and JIB could be one of those.

Both the Raiders and Lady Raiders should be competitive.

Looking forward to the JIB / JJK matchups throughout the season.

Re: 2007 Coalfield Progress Hoops publication

Boys, I hope you are talking about the lady raiders being competitive in the LPD because last night they were pitiful, just pitiful. They folded like a blanket under pressure and shot 4-27 from the free throw line, wow! Maybe it was early season slump but they were very bad last night. One good thing after last night, they can only get better. Lets hope so.
Final score VHS 54- raiders 28...VHS had a FRESHMAN score 18. Sounds like she is pretty talented
